Principles of Economics (ECON 2005)

Economics studies how people make decisions when resources are limited. This course focuses on how incentives shape behavior, sometimes leading to efficient outcomes and sometimes to market failures. We also examine when government intervention can improve markets and when it can create new challenges.

Course Material

You'll need to purchase access to Pearson MyLab to complete weekly assignments and midterm exams this semester. I recommend purchasing access directly from Pearson when possible because you'll get a significant discount compared to the campus bookstore.

To earn bonus credit during the semester, you should subscribe to iClicker Cloud to participate in daily in-class questions. If you’ve purchased a new physical remote recently, it came with a 5-year subscription to the online version. Otherwise, you can purchase a 6-month digital subscription for much less than a physical remote.

I recommend picking up a QuickStudy card from Amazon and a generic calculator before our first exam. They're great resources to help with your recap assignments and exams. They are sold at the campus bookstore, but Amazon usually sells them for a few dollars less.
